We have the pleasure this summer in having Dawud Wharnsby with us in Glasgow performing his new set of songs from his book called ‘A Picnic of Poems: In Allah’s Green Gardens’. This will be an interactive session, a lovely event for children, involving musical accompaniment. After the performance he will be signing copies of his new book published by Kube publishing.

And to finish everything off there will be a fundraising dinner in support of all the work that we do in the community.

With the help of a grant from Community Energy Scotland and CARES, and the donation of £1000 from a generous donor we were able to install Solar Panels onto the roof and also to insulate the top floor. A special thank you from all of us at Andalus to all those that played their part to make this happen.

I will be starting Judo classes for 7 to 11 year olds from this Saturday afternoon (12:30pm to 1:15pm). Please send your kids along wearing loose and comfortable clothing for some Judo fun! If you have any questions, please get in touch with me.

Andalus would like to thank a dear sister based in Sheffield for her second generous donation of arts and crafts materials.

The donation of such a large amount of supplies has allowed us to sell off these materials at bargain prices. We hope to offer this to other community groups and people interested in arts and crafts. Please contact us to view the materials.

Children attending the Urdu classes have been studying the topic of time and weather and spent a session painting pictures about Spring and Winter. In these sessions they also learned Urdu phrases relating to the topic. Urdu classes take place on Saturday between 10am and 12pm. Last month a few volunteers got together and cleared out a large hedge and all sorts of rubbish next to the Andalus building. We are now looking  to design and develop a children's play area and garden. if you are interested in getting involved or would like to share your ideas, please contact us.
