What makes a good Jum'ah experience?
 15th June 2011  |  Views: 42773

For a woman you first need a space which Andalus kindly does provide (a large one too).

The next thing to examine has to be the khutbah; something that is not only understandable in the English tongue (which at Andalus it is) but more importantly something that has meaning and effect.

Last Fridays Khutbah touched upon something that was not a new issue to the ummah - how we should react in times of hardship illustrated by the careful use of hadith and reflection on our beloved Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). However, it was this combined with the speakers personal experience that gave the khutbah its effect and impact on the audience. From stories related to our Bosnian brothers and sisters, the current situation in the Middle East to our everyday lives in Glasgow...

You suddenly felt you could relate; you knew what he was talking about.

After prayer it was time to go back to life feeling reasonably satisfied that you have taken something from the experience and glad you had made it for another week.

So marks out of 10? Will leave it to you to decide!
